What accuracy can drone surveys achieve for mining volumetrics?
Using photogrammetry with ground control points and CORS integration, Dronimagination achieves volumetric accuracy of ±2 cm horizontal and vertical. For blast monitoring, pre-blast and post-blast surveys are completed within the same day. All deliverables include a full accuracy report with RMS error documentation.
Can drones replace total stations for mining surveys?
In most scenarios, drone photogrammetry and LiDAR significantly reduce the need for total station work — covering the same area in hours rather than days. However, for precision boundary surveys or areas with extreme vegetation, Dronimagination recommends a combined approach: drone data for area coverage, total station for control points and boundary checks.
How do you survey underground mine areas where GPS doesn't work?
Dronimagination uses SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping) LiDAR systems that don't require GPS. These can map tunnels, drifts, and underground voids with millimetre precision, producing 3D point clouds and volume calculations without any external reference signal.
What is included in the final survey report for mining projects?
Final deliverables include: orthomosaic maps, DSM/DTM, dense point cloud (LAS format), volume calculation reports with methodology, cross-section drawings in DXF/CAD, slope maps where required, and a full accuracy report documenting RMSE values for all control points.
